VCHS class of ’52 holds 62-year reunion

The Vandalia Community High School graduating class of 1952 celebrated its 62nd anniversary the weekend of June 20-22.

The weekend began on Friday evening with dinner at Chuckwagon Restaurant, with 17 classmates and three guests attending.
A banquet was held on Saturday evening at Vandalia Country and Golf Club, beginning with a social hour.
Herb Tessman, class president, gave the welcome and introduced a former teacher, 93-year-old Dale VanBlair, and his daughter from Belleville.
Bill Sachan gave the blessing and dinner was served to 22 classmates, seven guests and the honored teacher.
Following dinner, a short memorial service was held remembering 47 deceased classmates.
Following a short business meeting and reading of letters from those unable to attend, the rest of the evening was spent remembering old times and visiting.
Sunday morning, the group enjoyed brunch at Ponderosa. After brunch, some of the classmates went to the lake home of Suzette and Ken Evans for an afternoon of relaxing.
Attending were classmates from California, Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, Florida and Illinois.
