The Fayette County United Fund distributed funds to nine county organizations at its annual luncheon on Wednesday, July 16.
The Fayette County United Fund continues to distribute the funds collected each year, and is now accepting donations for its 2015 distribution. Contributions collected from the community, State Employee Combined Appeal (SECA), Ameren and other organizations will be distributed next year.
Individuals, businesses or organizations interested in donating to the United Fund are encouraged to get to know the participating agencies and donate to the campaign by sending checks to: Fayette County United Fund, P.O. Box 331, Vandalia.
Checks or payroll deductions written to the United Way will not benefit the Fayette County United Fund. United Way donations only fund agencies that also have operations outside of Fayette County.
From the work done last year, the Fayette County United Fund issued checks for $800 to each of the following agencies:
Girl Scouts of the USA (Heather Kingston); Friends & Families of Fayette County Hospital (Frank Roeder); Fayette County Senior Citizens Services (Elloise Black); Operation Outing (Wietse Schaafsma); Family YMCA of Fayette County (John Ashdown); SAFE (Mary Harrington); Central Illinois Public Transit – CEFS (Amie Page); Community Resource Center (Aaron Davis); and FAYCO Enterprises (Kim Taylor).
This year, there were designated donations made to the Family YMCA of Fayette County ($300) and to Catholic Charities ($50) that were also distributed.
