VANDALIA – Post 95 completed a five-game run through the loser's bracket of the Sr. Legion District Tournament on Friday night, knocking off Olney, 13-3, to earn the tournament championship and a bye in next week's New Baden Fifth Division Tournament.
Connor Beasley homered for the third time of the tournament, and Vandalia scored with consistency throughout the game to knock off Olney for the second straight day.
Post 95 was upset in the first game of the winner's bracket and needed five straight wins to continue its season. Olney had yet to lose in the winner's bracket, so Vandalia had to earn two wins against that team to earn the championship, though had already qualified for the Division Tournament by making Friday's title game.
Vandalia (32-8) will play again on Tuesday at New Baden, facing either Fairview Heights/Swansea or Murphysboro at 1:30 p.m.
