Youth hurt in wreck is back home

A Brownstown youth returned home on Monday after being treated in a St. Louis hospital for injuries sustained in a car-bicycle accident last Thursday evening.
Shelby R. Orechovesky, 7, of Brownstown, was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, then transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
According to a Fayette County Sheriff’s Office report, Ronald L. Holding, 63, of Brownstown, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Impala westbound on Boley Drive, an Interstate 70 frontage road, and changed lanes to go around a group of pedestrians walking along the right shoulder of the road.
The report states that after he passed the group, a youth on a bicycle turned left from the right lane into the path of Holding’s vehicle.
It states that the youth hit the windshield of the car and then fell onto the pavement.
No tickets were issued.
