Oldham fires perfect game; Goodin hits for cycle

Missing all of last season proved to not be a setback for Lady Aces senior Becca Oldham.

Oldham hurled a perfect game for the Mulberry Grove during last Thursday’s season-opener, a 31-0 win against Sandoval.

Offensively, Sam Goodin hit for the cycle.

Oldham struck out seven and nothing that the overmatched Lady Blackhawks hit in fair territory made it out of the infield. Two batters did get to a full count in Oldham's first start since her sophomore season.

She missed her junior year due to a leg injury.

Goodin opened her offensive showcase with a single in the first, and she then hit a grand slam in a 12-run second inning, which saw Mulberry Grove get 18 plate appearances.

In the third, Goodin completed her cycle with a triple and a double. She finished the game 5-for-6, with nine RBI.

Kayla Zimmerman reached base and scored in all six of her plate appearances, while Oldham added three hits and Kate Jolliff scored four times.

Mulberry Grove’s game at South Central was canceled on Monday, and the Lady Aces will return to action on Thursday against Hillsboro.

The Lady Aces then play Odin on Friday, at St. Anthony on Saturday and at Lebanon next Tuesday.
