VCHS Students Go to WYSE Regional

A group of students from Vandalia Community High School recently participated in the WYSE (World Youth in Science and Engineering) regional competition at Kaskaskia College in Centralia last Thursday.

They competed by taking tests in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering graphics, English and math. The students were selected by their teachers as the highest-achieving students in those subject areas. They competed both as a team as well as individuals.  Those placing first or second in their testing area advance to sectionals at McKendree in April, and Jeff Bradley (first photo) placed second in computer science. The VCHS students participating in the competition are shown in the second photo. In front, from left to right, are Mandi Jourdan, Kate Shields, Matti Tedrick and Jessica Sullens. In back are Matt Campbell, Brent DeSherlia, David Zimmerman, Bradley, Lucas Smith, Austyn Krueger, Jake Stewart, Heidi Goldsmith, Makayla Summers and Megan Godoyo.
