The Next Level: Graduated athlete roundup (Dec. 6)

Jessica Earnest • Senior • Vanderbilt

•Nov. 30-Dec. 2 – Earnest, a Vandalia graduate, and the Vanderbilt University bowling team placed third at the Track Kat Clash at Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas. On Friday, Earnest anchored the team as it went 4-1 to move into second place. The next day, she had a high game of 225 to help the Commodores score at least 1,000 pins in each team game of a 5-0 afternoon. Included was a game of 1,156, which is a new school record. Vanderbilt finished third after being upset in Sunday's semifinals; Sam Houston State won the event. Also for the Commodores, Amanda Fry averaged 239.2 in her five games on Saturday, breaking the single-tournament average record that was held by Josie Earnest. Her record of 236.5 was set over six games. Vanderbilt will not bowl again until 2013.

Laura Hobbie • Senior • Greenville

•Dec. 1 – Hobbie, a Vandalia graduate, started and played 29 minutes for Greenville in 74-72 overtime St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win against Webster. She scored seven points on two field goals (one 3-pointer), and was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed three rebounds, had one steal and dished out an assist. Greenville is 5-1 (2-0 SLIAC) on the season.
•Nov. 29 – Hobbie started and played 23 minutes for Greenville in a 65-38 SLIAC win at Principia. She scored 11 points on two field goals (one 3-pointer), and was 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. She also grabbed five rebounds, and had one steal.
•Nov. 27 – Hobbie started and played 26 minutes for Greenville in a 73-39 victory at St. Louis Pharmacy. She scored a game-high 16 points on seven field goals (two 3-pointers). She also grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists and had a steal.

Isaac Grapperhaus • Senior • Illinois College

•Dec. 1 – Grapperhaus, a South Central graduate, started and played 29 minutes for Illinois College in a 74-73 Midwest Conference win against Lake Forest College. He scored 19 points on nine field goals and 1-of-1 free throws. He grabbed four rebounds and had a team-high three blocks. The Blueboys are 2-4 (1-2 MWC) on the season.
•Nov. 28 – Grapperhaus started and played 28 minutes for Illinois College in a 65-63 Midwest Conference loss to Monmouth. He scored nine points on three field goals (one 3-pointers) and 2-of-2 free throws. He also added five rebounds.

Marty Johnson • Sophomore • Illinois College

•Dec. 1 – Johnson, a Vandalia graduate, played four minutes off of the bench for Illinois College in a 74-73 Midwest Conference win against Lake Forest College. He committed one turnover. The Blueboys are 2-4 (1-2 MWC) on the season.
•Nov. 20 – Johnson played seven minutes off of the bench for Illinois College in a 65-63 Midwest Conference loss to Monmouth. He grabbed one rebound.
