The Christmas decorations are up, the city's tree is in place at the top of Gallatin Street and the merchants have their stores stocked with all sorts of Christmas presents.
It's Christmas time in Vandalia!
This Friday's Olde Tyme Christmas celebration officially kicks off the of the holiday season in Vandalia. Events run from 5-9 p.m. in stores throughout the downtown area. You'll find special pricing, fully stocked shelves and helpful merchants, ready to help you find the perfect gift for everyone on your list.
After a tough year, the local merchants need your support to finish their year strongly. They're doing their best to give you good reasons to shop at home. So let's all do our part. When we shop here, we help keep jobs in Vandalia.
Here are the high points in the schedule: 5 p.m. – lighting of the city Christmas tree; 5-9 p.m. – merchants open (with Santa and Mrs. Claus appearing at Something Special Florist and the Soroptimist Cookie Walk at 533 W. Gallatin St.); 5-8 p.m. – Vandalia Statehouse open; and 6:30 p.m. – story time at Evans Public Library.
