? The Salvation Army will begin its holiday bell-ringing campaign during Vandalia's Olde Tyme Christmas. The campaign will continue at Walmart, County Market and Rural King through Dec. 24.
? The Tammy Gail Vosholler Memorial event will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on the Vandalia Community High School track. It will include a glow light walk at 6:30 p.m., and hot chocolate and chili will be available. Organizers will be accepting raffle and cash donations that will go directly to the Tammy Vosholler Scholarship Fund. All cash donations are being accepted at First National Bank.
? Olde Tyme Christmas will be held in downtown Vandalia. Downtown stores will be open from 5-9 p.m., and the Vandalia Statehouse will be open from 5-8 p.m. The Christmas tree lighting is at 5 p.m., and the event also includes the Soroptimist Cookie Walk, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus at Something Special and a story time at Evans Public Library at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, November 17
? The Vandalia Moose Lodge will hold its annual pancake and sausage breakfast from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge. The cost for the all-you-can eat meal is $5 per person. Carry-outs will be available.
? The youth group at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia will hold a chili soup supper from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the church's parish center. Free-will donations will be accepted, with the proceeds going toward the March for Life trip.
Sunday, November 18
? St. Peter's Lutheran Church and School will hold their annual turkey supper at 5 p.m. in the school gym. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children, with children under age 3 eating free of charge. Carry-outs will be available.
