Museum event is this Sunday

The second in this Seasons of Events sponsored by the Fayette County Museum will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., in the Vandalia First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Entry is from the parking lot west of hall.
Linda Dust, a storyteller from Assumption, will provide the program. She has relatives buried in Vandalia and will be telling historical family stories.
After years of dabbling in folk music, Dust became a fan of storytelling and began attending concerts and festivals. It wasn’t much of a leap from singing folk ballads to telling folk tales.
The opportunity presented itself for her to take the stage at an open mic event at the Prairie Tales Storytelling Festival at Lincoln’s New Salem State Park outside Petersburg.
She told her first story, along with singing a Woody Guthrie song, and was invited to join the Champaign-Urbana Storytelling Guild.
Within a few years, she was telling stories before local audiences, and since then has been telling stories for church groups, social organizations, cafes and concerts, including the famed Bitter End in Greenwich Village, N.Y.
In April 2011, she was one of two regional storytellers to perform at the Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival.
Single event tickets are available at the museum for $13 in advance or $15 at the door. Student tickets are half price.
Refreshments are served following the presentation. Funds raised are used for the up-stairs restoration project.
Fall museum hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Tour scheduling and information is available at 283-4866.
