Kent Hites, 60, of Hillsboro, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Kenneth Sandlin officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
Mr. Hites was born on Oct. 2, 1951, in Vandalia, the son of Donald E. “Bill” and Elsie F. Kirchhoff Hites. He married Nancy Daugherty on Sept. 2, 1972, in Vandalia.
He was a 1969 graduate of Vandalia Community High School, graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and received his master’s degree from Morehead State in 1973.
He owned and operated numerous industrial business and real estate ventures. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Amanda and her husband Sean Priewe of Chicago; brother, Steve Hites of Vandalia; and sister-in-law, Kellie Clouse and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Wanda Eubank; brother, Lynn Hites; and daughter Angela K. Hites, on July 7, 2010.
