John Edward Dunn, “Johnny,” as he was called, 86, of Vandalia, died on Friday, April 27, 2012.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Noffsinger Cemetery in Tamalco. Online condolences may be shared at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Mr. Dunn was born on June 25, 1925, in rural Fayette County, the son of John William “Bill” and Anna Belle Thomas Dunn. He married Jean Rohde on Jan. 1, 1950.
Johnny retired from Brockway Plastics in Vandalia in 1988, but he worked hard at many jobs throughout the country all of his life. Most importantly, he was a friend to all, and he never knew a stranger.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda and her husband Victor Keller of rural Farina; sons, Robert Dunn and his wife Sandra of Highland, and David Dunn of Vandalia; sister-in-law, Elaine Dunn; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Edward Dunn; granddaughter, Brandy Dunn; brothers, Melvin Dunn and Lloyd Dunn; and a sister, Doris Dunn.
