Jessica Earnest • Junior • Vanderbilt University

•April 11 – Earnest, a Vandalia grad, was for the second time named a second-team All-American. She had a 205.43 average for the year.

•April 12 – Vanderbilt was given the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Championships after posting a 5-2 record in first-day round-robin action. The Commodores beat the No. 1, 2 and 5 ranked teams during the day. Earnest averaged 199.57 over seven games, with high scores of 224 and 222.

•April 13 – Earnest had just three open frames the entire day as she helped Vanderbilt reach the championship semifinals. The Commodores were 3-1 on the day, with the only loss coming to eventual champion Maryland Eastern-Shore, which has won back-to-back titles.

•April 14 – Vanderbilt was eliminated from the tournament after taking a tough, 4-3, loss to Fairleigh-Dickinson in the semifinals. In the first five games, Vanderbilt had no worse than 212, but poor showings in the final two games gave FDU the win.

Tanner Bushue • Pitcher • Lexington Legends

•April 17 – Bushue, a South Central graduate, struggled to his third loss of the season. He pitched two innings, allowing six runs (four earned), five hits and one walk during a 10-6 loss to Greenville. Through Tuesday, the Legends were 4-9.

•April 12 – Bushue took his second loss of the season during a 9-4 loss to Kannapolis. Bushue pitched just three innings, allowing six earned runs, eight hits and a walk. He struck out three, but his season earned-run average was dropped to 21.94.

Derek Harmeier • Freshman • Kaskaskia College

•April 6 – Harmeier, a South Central graduate, pitched 5 2/3 innings during a loss to Lake Land College. He allowed four runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks, while striking out one batter.

Paige Dodson • Junior • Greenville College

•April 14 – Dodson, a Vandalia graduate, placed 13th in the 200-meter dash at the St. Louis University Invitational. Her time was 27.57 seconds.

Ann Githinji • Senior • Greenville College

•April 14 – Githinji, a South Central graduate, placed seventh in the 400-meter dash at the St. Louis University Invitational. Her time was 1:04.82.
