Vandalia sixth-grade boys enjoy winning basketball season

The Vandalia sixth-grade boys basketball team enjoyed a winning season this year, posting a 12-5 record, including a first-place finish at the Vandalia Tournament.

Nathan Casey, who won the free-throw shooting contest at the Brownstown Tournament by making 21-of-25 shots, paced the team in scoring, with 9.5 points per game.

At that tournament, the Jr. Vandals lost to Altamont Luthern in the first round, but beat the hosts, 36-24, to place third.

In the Vandalia Tournament, the team beat South Central in pool play before taking down St. Elmo, 37-31, in overtime for the championship.

Vandalia's B-team was led in scoring by Matt Lidy, who averaged 8.0 points per game, in leading the squad to a 6-6 record.
