Lincoln Day Dinner is Saturday

The Fayette County Republican Central Committee will hold its annual Lincoln Day Dinner this Saturday evening at the American Legion Home in  Vandalia.
The event begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and a program.
Speakers will include U.S. Congressman John Shimkus, state Sen. John O. Jones, state Sen. Kyle McCarter, state Rep. John Cavaletto, Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen and Joshua Morrison, Republican candidate for state's attorney.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Advance tickets are available by calling Grace Thull, 283-4331, or Central Committee Chairman Randy Pollard, 283-2525; or from any Republican elected official or precinct committeeman.

Pilcher Cemetery meeting is on March 1

The Pilcher Cemetery annual meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Otego Township building.

Relay book sale now under way

A book sale to benefit Fayette County Relay for Life is now under way at National Bank, 520 W. Gochenour St., Vandalia.
Paperback books are available for $1, and hardback books are $2.
Donations for the book sale are being accepted.

'Nite at the Races' is set for March 10

The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce has taken over a popular fundraiser previously held by Vandalia Main Street.
This year's "Nite at the Races' will be held on Saturday, March 10, at the Vandalia Country and Golf Club.
Dinner is at 6 p.m., and races begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.
"Nite at the Races" allows participants to bet on videotaped races.
