Historical Society meets Tuesday

The Vandalia Historical and Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Evans Public Library in Vandalia. Gloria Durbin will present part two of "Dating Old Photographs." Visitors are welcome to the society meetings.

Habitat for Humanity seeks volunteers

Habitat for Humanity is in need of volunteers on Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m.-noon.
Habitat volunteers will meet at the southwest corner of the Fayette County Health Department parking lot in the 400 block of West Edwards Street in Vandalia.
Volunteers with pickup trucks are especially needed. The Habitat tools and supplies are stored at several locations, and they need to be moved to one location.

FAYCO art on display at Evans Library

Artists from FAYCO Enterprises will have a display of their artwork at Evans Public Library in Vandalia through next Tuesday. The display will be set up in the Lincoln Room, and will be open during regular library hours.
More than 75 entries have been received. They were judged by local artist Lynn Reznick.
The art show is sponsored by the Woman's Federated Club of Vandalia.

Library hosting Wee Read Program

Evans Public Library in Vandalia is offering a Wee Read Program for children age 3 through kindergarten-age.
To participate, parents can check out books from the library to read to their children. For every book read, up to 16 books, the child will receive a prize.
The program continues through May 7. For more information, contact the library, 283-2824.

Reception this Thursday for Whiteman

The Vandalia Main Street Program will hold a reception this Thursday to recognize Dana Whiteman for her years of service as the program's executive director.
The reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the banquet room at Holiday Inn Express on Mattes Avenue in Vandalia. Refreshments will be served.
