Virginia A. Parr Becker, 81, of Coffeen, died on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Coffeen. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour before services on Thursday, both at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Becker was born on July 12, 1929, in New Holland, the daughter of Archibald E. and Mildred C. Guiser McNeil. She married Norman Parr on June 4, 1951; he died in 1966. She married the Rev. Lawrence E. Becker on June 9, 1968.
She is survived by her husband; son, Eric Parr of Fairmont; and daughters, Lynette and her husband Jerry Ward of Vandalia, Cheryl and her husband Denny Cain of Patoka, Diane and her husband Paul Walker of Charlottesville, Va., Karen and her husband Keith Breithaupt of Swansea, Beth and her husband Eugene Dust of St. Peters, Mo., Nelda and her husband Dan Blankenship, and Teresa and her husband Steve Burnett of Florissant, Mo.
