Relay for Life book sale continues

A book sale to benefit the Fayette County Relay for Life is continuing at National Bank, 520 W. Gochenour St., Vandalia.
The sale will continue until all books are sold.

VCHS book fair is this week

Vandalia Community High School is hosting a book fair through Monday, from 8-4 p.m. daily. Parents may go online to shop and place orders at scholastic.com/schoolbookfairs.

Library hosting Wee Read Program

Evans Public Library in Vandalia is offering a Wee Read Program for children age 3 through kindergarten-age.
To participate, parents can check out books from the library to read to their chidlren. For every book read, up to 16 books, the child will receive a prize.
The program continues through May 7. For more information, contact the library, 283-2824.

England benefit is Saturday

A benefit will be held from 5 p.m.-midnight this Saturday at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia for Linda England, who has been diagnosed with cervical cancer.
The benefit will include a chicken dinner at 5 p.m. The cost is $5 per plate.
It will also include live music from 8 p.m.-midnight, a cakewalk at 6:30 p.m., a Dutch auction at 7:30 p.m. and a 50/50 drawing at 11 p.m.
Anyone wishing to donate cakes for the cakewalk may drop them off at the VFW Home on Friday or Saturday.
