Betty Schaub of Vandalia is celebrating her 80th birthday with an open house hosted by her family from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia.
She was born March 22, 1931 in Sefton Township, the daughter of Adolph and Rachel Francis. She is a graduate of Brownstown High School.
She married Donald Schaub, and they lived in Texas, West Virginia, New Mexico and Colorado before moving to Vandalia in 1958.. They were the owners/operators of the laundromat at the corner of Eighth and Jefferson streets.
She was employed by the Department of Public Aid for 30 years and worked in offices in Centralia, Edwardsville, Clay City and Vandalia. She started as a clerk and ended up as an administrator.
She is an active member of the Vandalia Country and Golf Club, and First United Methodist Church, and she also served on the city of Vandalia’s walking tail committee.
All family and friends are invited to attend. She requests no gifts.
