Lady Cougars lose makeup game to Wayne City, 48-42

The South Central High School girls basketball team thought its season was finished after the regional tournament, but Wayne City came to them to make up a game that had been canceled due to bad weather.

The Lady Cougars nearly won the game last Wednesday, despite having practiced just once the week before.

South Central scored 30 points in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a slow start during a 48-42 loss.

The Lady Cougars only scored 12 points in the first half and trailed by nine at halftime, but they continued in the second half with a great effort.

"We may not have won a lot of games, but these girls battled every night," said coach Gary Kapper. "I am proud of every one of the girls for what they did this year."

Seniors Ashley Pollard and Haley Rambo ended their careers.
