Linda L. Michel, 56, of Vandalia, died at 11:55 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at her home in rural Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church in rural Vandalia, with the Revs. Dan Rush and Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour before services on Wednesday, both at the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Cancer Society or Fayette County Relay for Life.
Mrs. Michel was born on Oct. 21, 1954, in Litchfield, the daughter of Wilbur and Fern Carter Hill. She married Steve Michel on March 27, 1999, at Bethel Baptist Church in Vandalia.
She was a teacher’s aide and librarian for the Vandalia Community School District, and a member of Coalton Southern Baptist church of Nokomis and Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia. She loved to bake, sew, arrange flowers and decorate. She loved life, people and her family.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Aimee Cocagne of Vandalia and Kelly Harms of Brownstown; sister, Shirley and her husband Tony Vandenbergh of Nokomis; brother, Rusty Hill of Nokomis; and grandchildren, Alex Cocagne, Ashley Cocagne and Lexi Cocagne, all of Vandalia, and Briley Sefton of Brownstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Erica Harms.
