Jr. Wrestlers battle at state tourney Three Vandalia Jr. Club wrestlers participated in the Illinois Bantam State Tournament in Chicago last weekend. Anthony Enlow placed first. Markus Isaiah and Jarek Wehrle both placed sixth at the tournament. Vandalia eighth-grade volleyball results The Vandalia Junior High eighth-grade volleyball team defeated Hillsboro last Thursday, 25-10, 25-16. Jessica Sullens led the Lady Vandals with 14 points. She also contributed six service aces, two kills and two tip kills. Kadi Metzger added eight points, four kills, one service ace and one block point. Ali Sasse had seven points, three kills and two service aces. The Lady Vandals host Litchfield on Thursday at 6 p.m., and the eighth-grade tournament has been rescheduled for Saturday. Vandalia seventh-grade volleyball results The Vandalia Junior High seventh-grade volleyball team defeated Hillsboro last Thursday, 25-15, 25-2. In the second set, Karlie Bright served 19 straight, including 13 aces, in helping the Lady Vandals to the lopsided set win. She also had four serves in the first set and two kills in the match. Makalya Tinker had three service aces and two kills. Grace Morgan contributed three service aces and two kills, as well. Leah Francis and Haley Bigelow each had two service aces during the match. The Lady Vandals lost the bonus third set, 21-25, and will host Litchfield on Thursday at 6 p.m. Vandalia 6th grade girls basketball results The Vandalia Junior High sixth-grade girls basketball team defeated Litchfield in overtime, 21-19, last Thursday. Emma Meyer led the Lady Vandals with seven points. Also scoring were: Lindsay Dagen (5), Molly Kern (4), Jensen Hollinshead (3) and Cassidy Jones (2). Last Friday, the Lady Vandals lost to Teutopolis, 49-3. Dagen scored two points, and Hollinshead added a free throw. Vandalia will host Hillsboro on Thursday at 6 p.m. Vandalia 5th grade girls basketball results The Vandalia Junior High fifth-grade girls basketball team suffered two defeats last week. Last Thursday, the Lady Vandals lost to Litchfield, 19-2. Olivia Marquardt scored Vandalia’s points. The next night, Vandalia lost to Teutopolis, 2-0. The Lady Vandals will host Hillsboro on Thursday at 6 p.m.
