Nina E. Koonce, 93, of Greenville, and formerly of Mulberry Grove, died at 8:58 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Mulberry Grove First Church of Christ, with the Rev. Randy Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in Maxey Cemetery in Smithboro. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Young Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials: Bond County Hospice or Fair Oaks Nursing Home.
Mrs. Koonce was born on Oct. 6, 1916, in Mulberry Grove, the daughter of Robert Dale and Vertie Reeve Nesbit. She married Woodrow Wilson Koonce on April 12, 1934; he died on June 22, 1997.
She grew up and lived most of her life in Mulberry Grove. She had worked at Blankenship Egg Farm and Thoro Clean Cleaners in Vandalia.
She is survived by sons, Richard Koonce Sr. of Greenville and Sam Koonce; daughters, Lavon Eubank of Vandalia, Joyce Lape of Mulberry Grove, Betty and her husband Don Carter of Smithboro, Patty and her husband Devon Graumenz of Shobonier, and Debbie Rhoades; 34 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Norma Jean Devall; sisters, Nellie Ahler and Grace Watcher; brothers, Charles Nesbit, Raymond Nesbit, Ernest Nesbit, Robert Nesbit, Chester Nesbit, Roy Nesbit and Sam Nesbit; and three great-grandchildren.
