Seniors Angel Osorio and Will Cowger qualified for state on Friday.
Osorio is headed to Charleston for the second consecutive year in the high jump. He cleared 6 feet, 5 inches at the Robinson Sectional, placing second.
Cowger, who missed state by a couple of inches last spring is headed there next week after placing third in the shot put, with a throw of 50 feet, 3 1/2 inches.
In addition to sending two athletes to state, Vandalia set two new school records.
Sophomore Quenten Austin set a new school record in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 41.32 seconds. He placed third.
Junior Daniel Bell set a new school record in the 800-meter run, a record that he’s been chasing all season. He final broke the record with a time of 2:03:57.
As a team Vandalia finished fifth overall, with 47 points.
