Dorothy B. Hargett, 91, of Lexington, Ohio, and formerly of Ramsey, died on Saturday morning, Jan. 23, 2010, at Lexington Court Care Center.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey. Visitation was held from 4:40-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Synder Funeral Home in Belleville, Ohio, and will be held an hour before services on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hargett was born on Oct. 9, 1918, in White County, Ill., the daughter of John R. and Lou Ella May Barbre. She married John D. Hargett in 1944.
Mrs. Hargett and her husband were the former owners of Ramsey Funeral Home, Ramsey Hardware Store and the Ramsey State Farm Insurance Agency. She was also an X-ray technician and helped her husband in his ministry work.
She is survived by a daughter, Yvonne and her husband Lyle Beveridge of Butler, Ohio; grandchildren, Jon Beveridge and his wife Amy of Belleville, Ohio, Joy and her husband Richard Chandler of Mansfield, Ohio, and Jana and her husband Luke Edwards of Mansfield, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Jonah Beveridge, Arik Beveridge and Kaylei Chandler; sister, Helen and her husband Gene Cowdy of Carmi; sister-in-law, Alice Hargett of Carmi; 10 nieces; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings and their spouses, Veda and Bert Sullivan, Vonda and Bernard Boultinghouse, Arnold and Clare Barbre, Joe and Ruth and Eldora Barbre; and in-laws, Edmund and Wilma Hargett, and William Hargett.
