Madge Lucile Washburn, 94, of Vandalia, died at 9:51 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey. Visitation will be held one hour before services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: Donor’s choice.
Mrs. Washburn was born on Aug. 22, 1915, in rural Vandalia, the daughter of Joseph and Fern Loretta Neeley St. Pierre. She married George William Washburn Jr. on March 9, 1945, in Greenville; he died on Feb. 5, 1969.
She was a retired supervisor for FAYCO Enterprises in Vandalia, and she attended New Beginnings Baptist Church in Greenville.
She is survived by a son, George “Bill” Washburn and his wife Lenier of Vandalia; daughters, Joyce and her husband Robert Wise of Mulberry Grove, and Janet and her husband Howard Belcher of Vandalia; brother, Donald St. Pierre of Danville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charles; and sisters, Mildred, Elenora and an infant sister.
