Bessie Litzenberg, 81, of Greenville and formerly of Vandalia, died at 9:37 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Young Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Rev. Darryl Bolen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: Bond County Hospice.
Mrs. Litzenberg was born on May 6, 1928, in Vandalia, the daughter of Charles and Ruth Huftcut Devall. She married Edward Dale Litzenberg on Nov. 21, 1944, in Greenville; he died on April 15, 1991.
She grew up in the Mulberry Grove area and lived most of her adult life in Greenville. She worked at Peterson Spring for 27 years, was a member of First Christian Church in Greenville and was a past member of the Mulberry Grove Lioness Club.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Kay and her husband Paul Willman of Greenville, Nancy A. and her husband Randy Flaschsbart of Highland, Becky Lynn and her husband Terry Diesselhorst of Donnellson, and Erline and her husband Glen Ball of Metamora; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Guy Devall and Laverle Devall; and sister, Grace Ellsworth.
