John Samuel Pizzo, 47, of Vandalia, died at 10:26 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Maxey Cemetery in rural Smithboro, with the Rev. Houston Jackson. Visitation was to be held an hour before services at the cemetery. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: The family.
Mr. Pizzo was born on Jan. 14, 1962, in Vandalia, the son of George Robert Pizzo and Mildred Mae Eaton Snow.
He was a construction and concrete laborer.
He is survived by his fiancée, Kathy Moore of Vandalia; sons, Stephen Pizzo of Pana, Josh Pizzo of Pana and William Pizzo of Vandalia; daughter, Michelle Pizzo of Pana; brothers, Patrick Pizzo and his wife Becky of Shelbyville, Elvin Pizzo and his wife Jennifer of Vandalia, and David Pizzo of Hettick; sisters, Debbie Troxell of Vandalia, and Alice Grotts of Vandalia; eight grandchildren; several nephews and nieces; several great-nephews and great-nieces; and one great-great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald, Larry and Stephen; and longtime friend, Robert Baugh.
