Helen Olmstead, 87, of Vandalia, died at 10:55 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Fayette County Hospital & Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. No visitation was planned. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: The family.
Mrs. Olmstead was born on Jan. 29, 1922, in Vandalia, the daughter of Howard and Gertrude Merriman Daniels.
She was a cosmetologist and a member of First Baptist Church in Vandalia.
She is survived by sons, Glen Olmstead and his wife Pamela of Vandalia, and Kevin Olmstead and his wife Cathy of Brownstown; sister, Amber Schwarm of Loogootee; granddaughters, Tracy Mathews of Urbana, and Gracie Olmstead of Brownstown; grandsons, Vance Olmstead of Alabama, Cody Olmstead of Florida and Quentin Olmstead of Urbana; and great-grandchildren, Dalton Olmstead, Cameron Olmstead, Russell Olmstead, Russell Mathews, Kaylee Olmstead, Autum Olmstead, Austin Olmstead, Angelo Olmstead and Cody Olmstead.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Daniels.
