Allan Fravala, 74, of Decatur and formerly of Fillmore, died at 12:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home in Mt. Zion. Burial with military honors was in Woodside Chapel Cemetery in Fillmore. Memorials: Tabernacle Baptist Church or Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Fravala was born on Oct. 22, 1934, in Fillmore, the don of Milburn “Kid” and Olga Moore Fravala. He married Gladys Wright in 1956; she died in 1960. He married Imogene Eller Powers on May 2, 1965.
He graduated from Brownstown High School in 1952. He was a retired computer warehouse engineer for Caterpillar and had served in the Air Force. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Kent Powers and his wife Sue of Fishers, Ind., and Greg Powers and his wife Sheila of Decatur; brother, Gerald Fravala of Alabama; stepbrother, Waller Lourash and his wife Jane of Decatur; stepsister, Vernell Black of Cadiz, Ky.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
