Fred Fredrick Jr., 95, of Vandalia, died at 7:07 a.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Fredrick was born on Oct. 30, 1913, in Taylorville, the son of Fred Sr. and Dora Gathard Fredrick. He married Wilma Sills on March 4, 1939, in Washington, Ind.; she died on July 16, 2007.
He was a production manager for Kraft Foods and St. Louis Dairy, and a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447 and Vandalia Lions Club. He was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved fishing and enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by a son, Roger Fredrick and his wife Ann of St. Peters. Mo.; grandchildren, Terri Fredrick and her husband Matthew Burack, Matthew Fredrick and his wife Sara, and Neil Fredrick; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Fredrick; and sister-in-law, Marylee Whitten of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Roy and Herb; and sisters, Ethel Perks, Etta Rutz, Francis Hagauner, Grace Steivgtn and Orbel Sims.
