Geneva M. Watkins, 100, of Vernon, died on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at her home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Day Funeral Home in Patoka. Burial will be in Farmers Cemetery in rural Shobonier. Memorials: Alzheimer’s Association.
Mrs. Watkins was born on Jan. 6, 1909, in Huron, S.D., the daughter of Elzie and Dora Ellen Primmer Wynn. She married Ben H. Watkins on July 2, 1930, in Bloomington; he died on Feb. 16, 1991.
She lived in Bloomington until 1965, when she moved to Vernon. She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed quilting, vegetable and flower gardening, and stringing beads. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by sons, Ben Watkins of Salem, Kenneth Watkins and his wife Dorothy of Sayer, Okla., and Keith Watkins and his wife Marie of Bloomington; daughters, Shirley Schaaf of Vernon, Charlotte Arbogst of Gridley, Marilyn and her husband Richard Hentzell of Denver, Colo., and Sharon Sue and her husband Tim Lampe of Conifer, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Ruth Watkins of McLean; 33 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Billie Watkins and John Watkins; brothers, Glenn Wynn and Clifford Wynn; and sister, Lucille Wynn.
