Delores F. Williams, 86, of Vandalia, died at 5:26 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at First Christian Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Linda Trowbridge officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia and from 10:30 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church. Memorials: First Christian Church.
Mrs. Williams was born on Dec. 12, 1922, in Vandalia, the daughter of Benjamin and Alma Scott Augustine. She married Raymond H. Williams on April 23, 1939, in St. Charles, Mo.
She and her husband were former owners of the Sears store in Vandalia, and she was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Vandalia, American Legion Auxiliary in Vandalia, Daughters of the American Revolution and Christian Women’s Fellowship.
She is survived by daughters, Sandra and her husband Jerry Swarm of Vandalia, Nancy J. Satterthwaite of Salem, and Mary Lynn and her husband Jim Bowen of Vandalia; sister-in-law, Dorothy Augustine of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Mark Swarm, Michael Swarm, Lori Hewerdine, John Sattherthwaite Jr., Patrick Satterthwaite, Jamie Vicich and Alan Bowen; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Glovena Gelsinger; brother, Benjamin N. Augustine; and grandson, Sean Satterthwaite.
