Dale Wright, 86, Mt. Zion

Dale Wright, 86, of Mt. Zion and formerly of Herrick and Brownstown, died on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Herrick Christian Church in Herrick, with Richard Corwin officiating. Burial will be in Buchanan Cemetery in Fayette County. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Kennedy and Sons Funeral Home in Pana was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Heart Association.

Mr. Wright was born on Friday, March 2, 1923, in Brownstown, the son of Noah Isaac and Gladys Ellen Wright. He married Eileen Burrus on June 24, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.

He was reared on the family farm in Fayette County and attended Victory Country School in Fayette County. He worked at Bowman Welding and retired from Caterpillar in 1985. He served in the Army during World War II, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Shelbyville and Herrick Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Nancy and her husband Will Barger of Macon; granddaughter, Angela Campbell of Maryville; great-grandsons, Nicholas and Austin Campbell, at home in Maryville; brothers, Leo Wright of Beecher City, Dallas Wright of Effingham, and Roy Wright and his wife Evelyn of Long Creek; and sisters, Freida Robinson of Mode, and Linda and her husband Dan Schuster of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Lela Wright and Wanda Graumenz.
