Adelle E. Rhoades, 75, of Salem, died at 6:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, in Mt. Vernon.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Shobonier, with the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours before services at the church. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Mrs. Rhoades was born on Feb. 9, 1934, in Marion County, the daughter of Benjamin E. and Grace B. Copple Butts. He married Duane Schaal on Jan. 28, 1955, in Mt. Vernon; he died on May 26, 1982. She married McClellan Rhoades on Aug. 12, 1988, in Clarksville, Tenn.; he died on Jan. 26, 2004.
She was a cook at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for several years, and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Shobonier.
She is survived by granddaughters, Stacey Moss of Oakboro, N.C., and Melissa “Missy” Schaal of Mt. Vernon; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Zach, Christopher, Destiny, Jacob, Sara, Mallory and Landon; brothers, Glen Butts of St. Peter, and Darrell Butts and his wife Leona of Southaven, Mich.; sisters, Edna Heicher of Greenville, S.C., and Wanda Osterholtz of Clarksville, Tenn.; and sister-in-law, Marion Butts of Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Charles Schaal; brother, Harold Butts; and sister, Rochelle West.
