Dorothy P. VanDoren, 96, of Fillmore, died at 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Fillmore, with the Revs. John Walsh and Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: Fillmore United Methodist Church.
Mrs. VanDoren was born on Sept. 10, 1912, in rural Fillmore, the daughter of Charles A. and Wealthy Bradshaw Kessinger. She married Waldo Bruce VanDoren on April 10, 1937, in Hillsboro; he died on Sept. 8, 1973.
She was a retired teacher, and a member of Fillmore United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Fillmore Senior Citizens, all of Fillmore.
She is survived by a son, Roger VanDoren and his wife Ella of Oconee; daughter, Susan and her husband Dr. Steven Alexander of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Arley VanDoren; one grandson; and two brothers.
