Ruth Lofland Neeley, 90, of Vandalia, died at 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. John O’Dell officiating. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: Griffith Cemetery or Haley Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Vandalia.
Mrs. Neeley was born on Aug. 2, 1918, in rural Brownstown, the daughter of Raymond E. and Bessie L. Hunt Williams. She married Glen A. Lofland on Aug. 2, 1934, in Vandalia; he died on Feb. 29, 1972. She married Claude Leo Neeley on Jan. 3, 1976, in Ramsey; he died on Dec. 29, 1991.
She was a retired inspector at Crane Packing Co. in Vandalia, was a member of Haley Chapel United Methodist Church of rural Vandalia and the Sefton Unit of Fayette County Homemakers Extension Association, and a past member of the Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, John Lofland of Vera; daughters, Wilma Richards of Shobonier, Donna and her husband Louie Weber of Vandalia, Janet and her husband Kenneth Smith of Vandalia, and Jeanne Lofland of Winooski, Vt.; brother, Bill Williams of Taylorville; 18 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, David Lofland; daughter, Shirley Potter; brother, James Williams; sisters, Margaret Williams, Wilma Williams and Norma Elam; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
