Carol Ann Holland, 64, of Edwardsville, died on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at her home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Salem, with the Revs. Robert R. Smith, Robert Edwards, William B. Lewis, Earl Renshaw, Sheryl Palmer, Murriel Nance and Tom Corum officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Memorial Gardens in Eldorado. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, both at the church. Rankin Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund or St. John’s United Methodist Church in Edwardsville.
Mrs. Holland was born on Aug. 29, 1944, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Charles R. and Elaine Baugher Gardner. She married the Rev. Arthur D. Holland on July 7, 1964, in Harrisburg; he died on Aug. 2, 1991. She married Dowain McKiou on Sept. 5, 1998, in Salem.
She taught and retired from Centralia High School, where she served as the faculty adviser for Phi Beta Lamda. She served alongside her husband in their ministries in Salem, Chester, Mt. Vernon and Vandalia. While at Grace United Methodist Church in Salem, she was involved with Bells of Grace. She also enjoyed traveling and dancing with her husband Dowain.
She is survived by a son, Gardner Holland and his wife Beverly of Edwardsville; daughter; Emily Holland of Edwardsville; brothers, John Gardner and his wife Gayla of Harrisburg, and Brian Gardner of Alton; father-in-law, Arthur Holland of Harrisburg; aunt, Ruth Upchurch of Galatia; granddaughter, Anna Holland of Edwardsville; and nieces, Erin, Natalie and Sydney.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.
