John William “Jack” Blue, 71, of Decatur, died at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Graveside services were to be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in rural Ramsey. Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Mercy Children’s Clinic in Franklin, Tenn.
Mr. Blue was born on Dec. 31, 1936, in Williamsville, the son of John William Sr. and Edraneil Duggins Blue. He married Polly J. Brown on May 29, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was an operating engineer. He was a member of Local 965 of Springfield and International Union of Operating Engineers, and a past member of the Elks, Eagles and Jaycees. He was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife; sons, John, Donnie, Brian and Ricky Blue, all of Springfield; daughters, Gina and her husband John Reed of Spring Hill, Tenn., Debbie Motley of Springfield and Debra Long of Vandalia; sister, Barbara Dixon of Springfield; and grandchildren, Hailey and Hayden Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
