Fern Cusick, 92, of Greenville, died at 2:16 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Cardinal Hill Healthcare Center in Greenville.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Young Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Rev. Darryl Bolen officiating. Burial was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation was held from noon until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Donor’s choice.
Mrs. Cusick was born on Jan. 3, 1916, in Keyesport, the daughter of John T. and Mariam Malinda Gaultney Kesterson of Greenville. She married Vernon “Butch” Greimann on Dec. 17, 1947; he died in 1980. She married Melford Cusick on Nov. 27, 1985; he died on Oct. 8, 2006.
She was reared in Keyesport, and after her marriage, she and her husband moved to Mulberry Grove, where they operated The Cowbell Restaurant. They moved from Mulberry Grove to Chicago, and later moved back to Pleasant Mound, there they operated The Pleasant Mound Store. She had also operated bakeries in Mulberry Grove and Greenville. She moved to Greenville after her second marriage. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a sister, Dixie Wehrle of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; sisters, Rose Guthrie and Lillie M. Thompson; brothers, Dewey Kesterson, Paul Kesterson, Leonard Kesterson, John D. Kesterson and two brothers in infancy.
