Nellie J. Crum, 96, of St. Elmo, died on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Friendship Manor in St. Elmo.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Kessel Funeral Home in St. Elmo. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo. Visitation will be held an hour before services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: Donor’s choice.
Mrs. Crum was born on Jan. 18, 1912, the daughter of Absalom and Rosa Jane Holman Carter. She married Raleigh Crum on July 16, 1928, in Vandalia; he died in 1952.
She retired in 1970 after 26 years as an air conditioner sprayer at Fedders Manufacturing Co. in Effingham. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, and she attended Church of God. She loved to dance and enjoyed her pet dogs.
She is survived by a son, Stanley Crum and his wife Betty Jo of Beecher City; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, five brothers, a grandson and a great-grandson.
