Ethel M. “Dustie” Bowers, 90, of Salem, died on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Day Funeral Home in Sandoval, with the Rev. Paul Mount officiating. Burial will be in Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Memorials: Sandoval Ambulance Service.
Mrs. Bowers was born on June 4, 1918, in Northwood, N.D., the daughter of Robert and Jessie Mae Brough Holstlaw. She married Vern J. Bowers in 1933 in Edinberg, Texas.
She grew up in Sandoval, then lived in California for 50 years. She worked for Burroughs Printing Co. in Baldwin Park, Calif., as an opaquer for many years. She returned to Marion County in 1991. She enjoyed dancing, visiting family and traveling.
She is survived by her husband; son, William Sennett and his wife Carol of Apple Valley, Calif.; daughters, Linda and her husband Tony Comforti of Big Bear Lake, Calif., Cheryll and her husband Steven Hayes of Olympia, Wash., Margaret and her husband Buckwheat Manley of Vera, Sharon and her husband Carl Moreland of Bingham, Coreena and her husband David McKevits of Taylorville, Tammy and her huband Bill Wilson of Ramsey, Robin and her husband Rick Moreland of Ramsey, and DeAnna and her husband Robert Litiker of Fillmore; brothers, Tom Holstlaw of Sandoval and Bill Holstlaw of Columbia, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leroy and Dwaine.
