Betty Lou Tish, 68, of St. Elmo, died at 9:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Kull Funeral Home in St. Elmo, with the Rev. Jakob Barrientos officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Memorials: American Cancer Society or donors choice.
Mrs. Tish was born on Aug. 30, 1940, in Altamont, the daughter of Ray and Bernice McDonald Evans. She married Leslie Ray Tish on Oct. 31, 1960, in St. Elmo, with the Rev. J.K. Lloyd officiating.
She was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Altamont as a certified nurses aide, beginning on May 13, 1974, and retired after 32 years on Sept. 14, 2006.
She is survived by her husband; son, Danny Tish and his wife Edwina of St. Elmo; daughter, Susan and her husband Darrell Abendroth of St. Elmo; grandchildren, Larry Tish and his wife Krysta of St. Elmo, Dustin Ray Tish of St. Elmo, Heather and her husband Tom Newburn of Ft. Smith, Va., and Evan, Austin, Kenny and Jared Abendroth of St. Elmo; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Jaxson and Torin Tish, and Sabine and Henry Newburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
