Jacquelene “Jackie” Portz, 65, of Vandalia and formerly of Ramsey, died at 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at the family residence.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Philip Kraft officiating. Burial will be in Boaz Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: Fayette County Health Department Hospice.
Mrs. Portz was born on Nov. 2, 1942, in Vandalia, the daughter of James Everett and Mabel Katherine Jones Hall.
She was retired as a cook from the Ramsey Community School District, was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and was a Cathecism teacher.
She is survived by sons, Carl Andrew Portz and his wife Lori of Effingham, and Eric Eugene Portz and his wife Susan of Springfield; daughters, Amy Cathlene and her husband Jeffrey Wingo of Mahomet, and Sara Leah and her husband Jason Berg of Vandalia; mother, of Vandalia; brothers, Bruce W. Hall of Vandalia and Johny T. Hall of Champaign; sister, Mitzi G. Balkauskas of Springfield; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thaddeus, Grant, Jack, Katelin, Josie, Benjamin, Grace, Luke, Stephen and Julianna; and great-grandson, Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her father.
