Thomas “Tom” M. McKee, 74, of Ramsey and formerly of Decatur, died at 9:52 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, in the Fayette County Hospital Emergency Room in Vandalia.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Liberty Church in Bingham, with the Rev. Harry Kirk officiating; military rites will be accorded after the service. Burial will be at a later date. Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Liberty Church, Bingham.
Mr. McKee was born on June 15, 1934, in Decatur, the son of Otto Starr and Eleanor May Miller McKee. He married J. Marlene Rhodes on Nov. 11, 1995, in Ramsey.
He was the retired owner of McKee’s Products, a retired farmer and a welder, among many other trades. He was a member of Liberty Church in Bingham, and a past member of the Masons and Decatur Chamber of Commerce. He served in the Army with the Seabees in Guam and Adak, Alaska, from 1952-56.
He is survived by his wife; son, Thomas Scott “Sam” McKee of Ramsey; daughter, Connie McKee Boden and her husband Kent Boden of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Jan and her husband Jim McQuaid of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandsons, Luke McKee of Missouri, Scott McKee of Shelbyville and Daniel Whisenant of Effingham; granddaughter, Crystal and her husband Jared Burch of Missouri; great-grandchildren, Kate, Cole and Sydney; nephews, Jeff and Kyle McQuaid; and great-nephews; and great-nephews, Grant and Garrett.
He was preceded by his parents and uncle, Lemuel Miller.
