Billie L. Vieregge, 81, Carlyle
Billie L. Vieregge, 81, of Carlyle, died on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
Services will be held at noon on Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Carlyle, with the Rev. Keith Michaels officiating. Burial will be in Mulberry Grove City Cemetery, Mulberry Grove. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 8-11:30 a.m. on Monday at Zieren Day Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton St., Carlyle.
Mrs. Vieregge was born on May 9, 1927, in Greenville, the daughter of Luther and Ruth Wells Merry. She married Jim Vieregge on Aug. 22, 1947, at First United Methodist Church in Greenville; he died on July 7, 1976. She married Mervin Vieregge on Oct. 8, 1978, at First United Methodist Church in Greenville; he died on May 21, 1985.
She moved from Greenville to Carlyle in 1978. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carlyle, where she worked as secretary from 1989-1997. She was a member of the United Methodist Woemn, Esther Circle and Carlyle Senior Women’s Club. Her hobbies included St. Louis Cardinals baseball, playing bingo and cards, crossword puzzles and reading.
She is survived by daughters, Nancy and her husband Bob Coleman of Highland, and Joy and her husband Lyle Michael of Hoffman; sons, Boyd E. Vieregge and his wife Lida of Greenville, Van L. Vieregge and his wife Lora of Greenville, J.D. Vieregge and his wife Amy of Vandalia, and Tim Vieregge and his wife Susan of Woodbridge, Va.; grandchildren, Beth Vieregge, Loran and Eran Vieregge, Scott Vieregge and his wife Mia, Katelyn Vieregge, Cheyanne and Ciara Coleman; stepgrandchildren, Mike Palm and his wife Linda, and Melissa and her husband Todd Cantrill; great-stepgrandchildren, Tessa, Allyson and Avery Cantrill, and Haley and Ella Palm; brother, C. Kent Merry and his wife Linda of Vandalia; and very good friends, Anna Lee Davenport and Mae Harp.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.
