Doris E. Lawson, 79, of Ashton, died on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Ashton Methodist Church in Ashton, with the Rev. Monica William officiating. Burial will be in Ashton Cemetery, Ashton. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services, both at the church. Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Ashton Methodist Church or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
Mrs. Lawson was born on Dec. 25, 1928, in Decatur, the daughter of Albert E. Jack and Ila M. Carson Easton. She married Glenn L. Lawson on Dec. 31, 1946, in Vandalia; he died on Dec. 31, 1997.
She was employed by Eaton Control and retired after 28 years, then she worked in the lunch room for several years at Ashton School.
She is survived by a son, Bill Lawson and his wife Jane of Rockford; daughters, Linda and her husband Richard Russell of Ashton, Monetta and her husband Rod Young of Ashton, and Pat and her husband Roger Garrison of Polo; brother, Gary Watson of Brownstown; grandchildren, Shelley ODell, Debbie Tucker, Amy and her husband Dave Bushman, Jolinda and her husband Larry Bittinger, Keith Chestnut and his wife Katie, Molly and her husband Douglas Sides, Bennett Lawson, Emily Lawson and Brady Young; and great-grandchildren, Kyle ODell, Lindsey ODell, Avery Tucker, Ruby Tucker, Tristan Bushman, Griffin Bushman, Hayden Bittinger, Garrett Bittinger, Raine Sides and Cole Chestnut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Phyllis Young and Betty Watson; grandson, Randy Russell; and great-grandchild, Eden Bushman.
