Mary Ella Bowen, 91, of Patoka, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Patoka Christian Church, with brothers Shannon Bopp, Kendall Bopp and John Klockenga officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Centralia. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Day Funeral Home in Sandoval and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials: Patoka Christian Church.
Mrs. Bowen was born on Sept. 7, 1916, in Patoka, the daughter of Russell O. and Agnes L. Gerrish Collins. She married Robert Eldon Bowen on Sept. 14, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo.; he died on Oct. 25, 1993.
She lived in the Patoka area all of her life, and was a member of Patoka Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed flowers, watching birds and mowing her yard.
She is survived by daughters, Phyllis and her husband Larry Lane of Kinmundy, and Nancy and her husband Brad Freels of Centralia; grandchildren, Kendall Bopp and his wife Lisa of Wentzville, Mo., Shannon Bopp and his wife Dawn of Altamont, Shane Bopp and his wife Sherry of Robinson, Lance Lane of OFallon, Kara Henlsey and special friend Brian Anderson of Mt. Vernon, and Dallas Freels of Hoffman; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Bopp, Kelsey Bopp, Cameron Bopp, Kari Bopp, Parker Bopp, Hannah Bopp, Abby Bopp, Levi Bopp and Brayden Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Harold Collins, on July 20, 2000.
