Margarita ‘Margo’ Sharp, 73, of Vandalia, died at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Vandalia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. John McIntosh officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Miller Funeral home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Sharp was born on Sept. 15, 1934, in Mexico City, Mexico, the daughter of Tiburcio and Consuelo Agilera Raya. She married Charles Sharp.
She was a high school teacher in Mexico for 12 years, a beautician who owned and operated a beauty shop and a homemaker who held part-time jobs in Vandalia. She was affiliated with First United Methodist Church in Vandalia and a member of Toastmasters International, and she enjoyed traveling near and far, especially in Europe, when she was single in the 1960s.
She is survived by her husband; son, Charlie Sharp and his wife Karen of Vandalia; daughter, Margaret and her husband Danny Summann of Augsburg; grandchildren, Kirsten and Kendra Sharp, and Spencer and Ryan Summann; brothers, Alfred Raya of Cancun, Mexico, and Benjamine Raya of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and sisters, Guadalupe Carbajal of Monterey, Mexico, Elena Hernandez of Irapuato, Mexico, and Consuelo Hidalgo of La Paz Baja California, Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jaden Daniel Summann.
