Weldon Sherman Hicks, 96, of Fillmore, died at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Hillsboro Health Care Center in Hillsboro.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Fillmore, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hicks was born on May 11, 1912, in Fillmore, the son of Rolla R. and Vera Porterfield Hicks.
He was a retired airplane builder and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of EAA Sport Aviation Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, Ultra-Lite Association, and Aero Squadron & Amateur Aircraft Builders.
He is survived by a brother, Sheridan E. Hicks of Pana; and a sister, Helen Beeler of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lora Stanley.
